Tracks Across Borders Historic Byway
From Chama, New Mexico to Durango, Colorado, the Byway traces the historic right of way of the now-abandoned narrow gauge Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad. You’ll follow the trails of Native Americans, pioneers, missionaries, and wild animals through the beautiful canyon of the Navajo River to the Colorado border.
Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway
The most popular day trip near Chama takes you to Mount Wheeler, the tallest peak in New Mexico. The drive offers spectacular scenery, rugged back country, and fascinating stops at Eagle Nest, Angel Fire, and Taos.
Wild Rivers Backcountry Byway
Circled by volcanic cones, cliffs, and the Sangre de Cristo’s snow-dusted peaks, a chasm of black rock falls 800 feet to the Rio Grande below. The Wild Rivers Backcountry Byway starts in nearby Questa and is a haven for hikers, cyclists, anglers, and sight-seers.
Santa Fe National Forest Byway
Start your drive in downtown Santa Fe and loop through 15 miles of azure mountains, aspens, evergreens, and sparkling waterfalls.
High Road to Taos Scenic Byway
This scenic excursion takes you through the mountains to the beautiful Santuario de Chimayo, the century-old Chimayo Trading Post, and the authentic centuries-old adobe architecture of Taos Pueblo.
San Juan Skyway
Start in Durango, Colorado and pass through Telluride, Mesa Verde, and the Ouro-to-Silverton ‘Million Dollar Highway.’
Gold Belt Tour
In the early 1890s, the mining towns in the shadow of Pikes Peak enjoyed the greatest gold boom the state has ever known. Begin in Cripple Creek to see them all. Then travel to the top of Pike’s Peak by car or cog railroad.
